After a long lockdown and not being able to leave Shanghai, Miu and I were finally able to get away for a short weekend to visit his family in Yangzhou. The train is less that 2 hours from Shanghai which makes it a perfect day trip from Shanghai. I didn’t film too much since 90% of our time was spent with family having large dinners for 15+ people and playing mahjong and I didn’t want to use my phone during that time. Yangzhou is such a beautiful city with a rich history which I hope to learn more about in future visits.

  1. Suggestion for future video : there is a trend of videos going viral about foreigners surprising locals with the fluency of their local language. Definitely would be good to see some interaction with the local populace in your vlogs and will garner thousands of views!

  2. I love Chinese cuisine from all its regions. I came across your channel looking for subjects of this kind. Your travel vlogs are very interesting, as a foodie I would be interested in seeing more about the food and getting some behind the scene kitchen action in getting the meals prepared and talking about the history of the dishes

  3. I notice a lot more blue skies in the pictures of Chinese cities these days, especially the tier one cities like shanghai and Beijing. I think the country is on the right track in moving away from heavy industries and towards a high tech sector, in fact working in the car industry i know some of the best electric vehicle companies Nio Xpeng and BYD are from China

  4. One day China will hopefully learn to live with the virus as being endemic as moeof the world is now coming to terms with (having said that I am yet to 'return to the office' and YouTube vlogs have been a great discovery for me while working from home

  5. Yangzhou is an old city, with over a thousand years of history, older than Shanghai. Have you tasted the famous dish Yangzhou Fried Rice? It began with the famous emperor Chian Long of Qing Dynasty. One night he was here feeling hungry, he asked his servants whether there was food to eat. The chef had merely ham, some eggs and some rice. He made it. The king was very pleased and asked what was the name of the dish. Of course Yangzhou Fried Rice.
